Urgent Message for Vaccine Providers - Flu Shot Finder
If you're providing flu vaccinations this year, please read:
The U.S. Department for Health and Human Services (HHS), flu.gov, and the American Lung Association have joined with Google to create a powerful new tool this flu season, the Flu Shot Finder.
If your pharmacy is providing the vaccine this year, you need to make sure you're on this list so people in your community know your pharmacy is an option when it comes to flu shots.
Being included on the Flu Shot Finder is a powerful way to stake your claim as a local vaccine provider.
On the other hand, not being included (if you are a provider this year) is a powerful way to let other pharmacies administer the flu shots instead. With Google's millions and millions of users, their Flu Shot Finder is one of those rare things you can't pass up, and need to get onto asap.
You can check out the flu shot finder at www.google.com/flushot.
Google has provided us the instructions you need to get your pharmacy onto the Flu Shot Finder if you're not yet there. See below:
1. Sign up for a Google Account here:
https://www.google.com/accounts/NewAccount?service=mail
You will use this account to enter and manage your organization's data.
You might consider a login name such as "state/county/pharmacy.flu@gmail.com
(using the name of your state/county or pharmacy name)
NOTE: please be sure to include a "Secondary email" which is needed if you later need to recover a lost password.
2. Send an email from the organization you represent (e.g
abc@pharmacy.com) to flu-shot-locator@google.com that states:
- You heard about this opportunity from Pharmacy Development Services
- Your organization name
- Your organization's Google Account email address
- Your or the primary contact's name
- A phone number where you or the primary contact can be reached
3. Once your information is received and reviewed, Google will add you to a special list that will allow access to the data editing tool and will send you a link to the website for the online tool once available. When you first visit the tool you will see a Click to accept Terms of Service agreement. You will need to review and accept this in order to access the data upload tool. With the tool you will be able to enter information for individual clinics, or edit fields for all clinics previously entered.
