Corporations, Audits, and the Death of Your Pharmacy Business and Personal Assets
As pharmacy owners, why do we bother to incorporate? Is it for “protection”? What if the protection you thought you had, DIDN’T EXIST? DO YOU KNOW WHAT YOU DON’T KNOW?
Think about the worst assaults to your wealth, the ones you’ve worked your whole life to avoid:
- How expensive is a divorce?
- What if your bank closed?
- What if you invested with MF Global or Bernie Madoff?

Thinking about why most of us became pharmacy owners (partially because we wanted to acquire assets), I want to propose two questions:

Your corporation isn’t providing you with the protection you think it is. Without knowing how to ACTIVATE the critically important protection clauses, you are just one lawsuit or IRS audit away from losing everything.
The brutal reality is, it takes very little to make sure your “corporate veil” of protection is working. Without the activation, it is worthless … as if you did not have a corporation to begin with. Here’s what will most likely happen:
- Tax deductions you took over the years could be rejected
- When you have to pay them back (with interest and penalties), you could lose everything you’ve worked so hard to create.
- If someone sues your corporation, and you don’t have the protection you think you have - they will sue you personally and take your house and assets.
