Foundations of Management

This Foundations of Management for Pharmacies is a program designed for experienced managers, as well as those who are just beginning to manage other people.

It is an opportunity for you to develop more depth in your management team leading to more freedom for you to spend your time developing your pharmacy business the way you wish.

If you answer “yes” to most of the following questions, you should enroll your managers in the group that is forming now!

  • Would you like to feel more confident that your pharmacy is properly managed when you are not there?
  • Would you like some support in developing your management team?
  • Would it be helpful for your managers to have an independent resource for their management development?
  • Would it be valuable to have your management team help in developing your business instead of you doing it all yourself?
  • Could you significantly increase your profit if you had more time to focus on entrepreneurial work?
  • Would your pharmacy be worth a lot more if it did run well by itself?
If you answered most of the questions with a “yes,” here are the questions to help you decide who you should nominate for the program.
  • Is this employee in a management position right now, or is expected to be in the near future?
  • Does this person have the skills and aptitude to be a good manager?
  • Would this person contribute to a rigorous program with other participants of a similar caliber?

The design of the program is to provide practical tools and systems which the participants may use in their work immediately. There is time during the sessions to share insights with one another, and to ask the instructor any questions about management development.

It is envisioned that the group will form a community, or network, to provide learning resources within the group itself. For these reasons attendance at all meetings will be required. Make up sessions will be available via recordings.

Accolades

“The course exceeded my expectations. I have a Bachelors in Accounting and have taken six MBA level courses. Your course gave more real life, practical, and implementable information than any other course I have taken. It helped me look at management differently than I ever have”.

- Elizabeth Brewster, Iuka Discount Drugs

"The manager training class offered by Pharmacy Development Services has been a great learningtool for my 2 managers who have participated. Paul does an excellent job of teaching management principles, and answering individual questions during the sessions. I had one manager that went froma 2 to an 8 (1-10 scale of course). This program allows your managers to grow and improve their skills over a period of time, and it is much more effective than a one day course. Additionally you do not need to send someone to training which cuts down on expenses. As problems and challengesarise, the managers can bring them up during the class and get feedback on how to best handle them.

I would strongly recommend the program to anyone who has a department manager that is a good person that needs to improve on their management skills. It is a worthwhile investment."

- Joe Cammack, Jim’s Pharmacy
