How to Identify, Attract and Keep Your Pharmacy’s Ideal Customers

August 30, 2015/0 Comments/in All, Pharmacy Growth Strategies/by pdsmarketing

ideal_clientsHow do you attract the customers who will stay with your pharmacy long term? Where do you find them? How will you even know if they’re the right fit?  Learn how to identify, attract and keep your pharmacy’s ideal customers.

These are all questions a lot of independent pharmacy owners have, perhaps even you have them. Every day, you build and coach your staff, you strive to provide the best service to your customers, and you stay on top of the innovative pharmacy trends that are moving the industry ahead. You truly care about your customers, and your ultimate goal is showing them that your business is worthy of their patronage.

But is this enough? The ability to find a customer, get them into your pharmacy, and satisfy them so they want to buy from you again should always be your central focus. If you aren’t identifying, attracting, and keeping your ideal customers, you may be wasting your time marketing ineffectively.

Identify

First, start with identifying who your ideal customers should be. Your ability to clearly define and determine the perfect customer for your pharmacy will determine your success. Defining your target customers means identifying their specific needs or “pain points” and key characteristics of these consumers. The demographic profile might include age, gender, income, occupation, family status, hobbies and address.

Attract

Now that you know who your ideal customers should be, do they know who you are? Opening your doors and implementing innovative programs is only half the battle of pharmacy ownership. If you want to find new customers, you need to be proactive in getting them into your store. Sales, promotions for new products, and partnering with other area businesses are all great ways to get noticed. Don’t forget about the benefits of building an excellent website so you can attract savvy customers organically online!

Keeping your customers satisfied is much more cost-effective than constantly marketing to bring in new people. Keep patrons happy by providing top-quality customer service, innovative and exciting new services like a med sync program, and unique programs to educate customers on health matters. Build personal relationships with them to instill trust and ensure they won’t leave you for a chain store around the corner.

One of the biggest concerns of running an independent pharmacy is finding new prospects to keep your profits growing. It can be disconcerting if you don’t have a systematic plan on how to identify who your perfect customer is, where to find them, and how to maintain their business. But this doesn’t have to be a concern of yours any longer. If you’re ready to learn about how to identify, attract, and keep your ideal customers in a more in-depth way, watch our on-demand webinar “Attracting Your Most Profitable Customers.”
