It was all so new to me when I joined PDS. I quickly realized that the more you put into PDS the more you get out of PDS. That is when I started to use many of the resources available. I’ve consistently seen results over my last five years with PDS. My business is still doing very well in a climate where a lot of independent pharmacists in Illinois are freaking out.

Owner

  • Gaining More Control through Synchronization

Through PDS, Jason says, his team has learned how to control many aspects of the business. “We figured out how to work smarter, not harder,” he says. “If it weren’t for PDS teaching us about medication synchronization, I would have never understood how important this was for my pharmacy and patients.” The PDS program continues to be an imperative part of Beck’s business operations, with the team setting a goal to sync 70 to 80 percent of its patient base. Therapeutic optimization has been a “game-changer,” Jason says. “It’s allowed us to make better therapeutic changes in medications for our customers. It’s a healthier choice for our patients.”

  • Setting the Foundation for a Solid, Lasting Business

Through the guidance of PDS, Beck’s Drugs implemented numerous programs that resulted in more than $1 million in gross profits in 2018. While the team is celebrating the successes of the past couple of years, Jason says they also are focused on setting the groundwork for a sustainable business. That plan includes investing in employee training by sending several team members to PDS Super-Conferences — a practice he plans to continue in future years. “I’m investing in my employee’s success. Not only in their professional lives but also their personal lives. For that, I am grateful for the opportunities PDS has provided myself and my team.”

  • Creating a Lasting Legacy

As part of his PDS membership, Jason is not just looking for an immediate return. He views it as a critical component of building a legacy — a pharmacy that will be around for some time. Although he has been in the pharmacy business for more than 15 years, you never have things completely figured out — a lesson he learned through the PDS Board of Directors program, he says. There’s always more you can be doing to be successful. “I live by the mantra that I once heard from Dan and that is you are only as good as the people you surround yourself with,” he says. He also noted that the lessons he learned through PDS Leadership Programs, including Advanced Leadership and Dare to be Free, have been life-changing — helping him adapt to a new business environment. “You cannot compare apples to apples because times are different now,” he says. If he had not joined PDS and invested in his business, Beck’s wouldn’t be anywhere near where it is today, he says. “I want to leave a legacy of providing the best healthcare solutions for my customers and changing the lives of my employees, personally and professionally, who have dedicated their lives to my business.”

“Through PDS, we’ve learned how to control many aspects of our business. We figured out how to work smarter, not harder.”
